Help locating DPF Sensor tubes to spray cleaner
Gonna give it a go, a couple cans of Wurth DPF aerosol. Just need a picture of where to find the sensor unit and the tubes attached to spray down.

My understanding is the larger more forward tube is the one to disconnect? Any ideas of help
Would be great.

Hi big110, you seem to have 3 topix running on the same issue, would be easier for people to follow if just focused on one.

So have a look at this diagram https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...10_2.2tdci

See where where part 21 (the DPF differential pressure sensor and silicon hoses) connects to the DPF, you remove the hose that connects to the metal pipe that in turn connects to the top of the dpf, i.e the shorter one, then inject the correct DPF cleaner into that metal pipe on the DPF as per instructions on the Wynns site for the “on car dpf cleaner “https://wynns2021.wpengine.com/wp-content/...ner_EN.pdf

I’ve never had any dpf issues due to not doing lots of short journeys, so unaware if the Wynn’s on car dpf cleaner will work, in particular whether you can get to the 2000-2500 rev range to run for 5 mins as per instructions if you are in limp mode.
You may be able to clear the code with a scanner to get it out of limp mode to try.

Ps I noticed you quoted Wurth dpf cleaner and I looked at Wynn’s, so you will need instructions for the wurth cleaner on its use http://media.wuerth.com/stmedia/shop/maste.../13026.pdf

Else it’s a static regeneration with the correct diagnostic tool.

Imho they shall be well tightened because they're pressure sensores.
This is the only issue we've had with them

In the addition to the above, reading codes and posting them would be helpful as a faulty DPF differential pressure sensor, or wiring to it , or damaged or badly connected pipes from the DPF to sensor can cause false readings on how full the DPF is , or stop regens happening causing the DPF to get blocked.

Here is a pic of the codes. The top one cleared but the bottom
Two DPF ones are what I’m dealing with

So there are no codes specific to the sensor, just ones relating to a full dpf. So a full static regeneration using a diagnostic tool would be my first thing to do.

Re tools to do this. The Nanocom site says the Nanocom can do this, however currently the Nanocom does not perform other functions well on the 2.2, ie can’t do injector coding, reads certain values incorrectly, somewhat flaky on ALM ECU support etc so think twice before buying one for a 2.2.

I’m pretty sure the GAP IID Tool can do it, but you would need to check. This is a great tool in other respects. The downside is it’s locked to your specific single vehicle.

I’m pretty sure forscan does not currently support the 2.2.

Other tools may be able to do it.

Dealer tools certainly can, and an indi or specialist DPF cleaning company should be able to do it as well.

A word of caution, if you keep driving the DPF will likely get so blocked that it can’t be cleaned and will need replacement. After market ones don’t have a good reputation, so would really need a genuine one at nearly £2k, however I notice on eBay their is a new unused one going for £700.

Thanks for this. I haven’t gone anywhere besides the market because I can’t get out of limp mode. Hoping my scan tool arrives Monday. It’s a UK tool supposed to be able to do force regen on the DPF.

Posting this on this thread too since I had two related posts going at the same time

Well, finally the Autel MS906 arrived. Found one cost me my left teste but I don’t need more kids so it’s ok Rolling with laughter

Was able to get her out of limp mode, did a DPF spray and then ran at high RPMs after 20 min. Great amount of white smoke and junk. Then took it for an hour ride with the scan tool hooked up and watched the live data feed. All looked very good and I was able to do a regen on the filter via scan tool and got the soot level down to 2% if I remember correct.

Just learning the capabilities of the scan tool but already proved its value. Quite a bit different process compared to my first 19j!

Cheers!

I really rate the Autel diagnostic tools - brilliant bang for buck. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

That’s great news big110, I would now consider doing an oil and oil filter change as it’s likely to have been contaminated by running the static regeneration . Just make sure you use low saps oil and a quality oil filter, lr ones are good and not expensive.
