Front Passenger Door lock problems
Hola,

Front passenger door has become problematic. It opens and closes without any problem, (using internal mechanism and external door handle/push button), but it is not locking, either using the key externally or the push lock internally.

The external key position is vertical and fixed. Internally, the push lever on the door is in the upright position and when pressed offers spongy resistance. Never feels like it wants to click.

This is a fully manual set up, no remote locking.

What thoughts? Do I need to get the barrell lock out and give it a good clean? If so, how?

Or do I need to dig further nehind the panel, rip out the mechanism and give the whole thing a clean?

Or other? Clean mechanism in place, but how? Buy new mechanism, this is a common but un rectifiable fault?

Any help welcome as always.

Might be worth taking the door panel off to see if the plastic water cover is bunched up an fouling the push button part that you would not normally see.

Recently I was tightening up the door hinges and as mine was slightly damaged in that area I adding some black tape and effectively caused the same problem you mentioned until I snipped it a bit to work.

Worth a try before taking the water cover off and delving deeper at the connecting rods.

Good luck

Thumbs Up
