Best wiper blades? *and washer upgrade?*
Just wondering what the current forum favourite wiper blades are - ideally with a manufacturer's part number. I've heard mention of Bosch Aero and Sillblade.

The factory ones on my 2010 D90 are pretty poor - looking for a front and rear set that look fairly factory.

Thank you.

I've recently fitted the Bosch Aerotwin to the 110 and the 130. Much better than standard and only £14 a pair.

Ditto Thumbs Up

Never had any issues with their performance and they look ‘right’ too on a Defender. Not expensive either.

lovely. Nice quick consensus, thanks everyone.

So, order three of these?: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-AR13U-Wiper...amp;sr=1-1

Just measured the OEM ones on the 90 and they're all normal factory Bosch ones at 335mm long (the recommended AR13Us are 340mm, but sure they'll be fine).

EDIT: rather than start a new thread I may as well add it here...

Is there an accepted way of upgrading the washers (screenwash squirters) on the front and back screens? The factory ones seem to dribble a bit of fluid out and I've long thought about upgrading either the pump or nozzles. The only thing is that I really do like my stock-looking 90 and am not convinced that the fancy Optimill/Design Development - type billet ones are in keeping with the look.

EDIT #2: I've just seen a reference to the CSI washer jets in another thread: http://www.csiparts.co.uk/en-gb/collections/screen-wash-jets - half the price of Optimill and a little more standard looking.

So a set of new wiper blades as recommended above and a pair of CSI washer jets should provide a significant improvement to the front and back screens for about £190 delivered.

Search for the Discovery pump upgrade and for Blackwolf’s excellent thread.

I quite like the Optimill (in black) but can’t yet justify the cost (and can’t face the partial dash removal) so have been contemplating the pump upgrade - mindful that it might ‘blow off’ the pipe from the existing washer jet and then the dash challenge would be real and present!

ooh - I love a LR parts bin upgrade, I'll go and have a search now.

EDIT: think I found it:https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic60773.html?highlight=pump

Fully agree with the Bosch Aerotwin blades. Much better on my 90.
I upgraded the headlights recently and as my washers also packed up - front and rear - spent many hours stripping the system. Both pumps out and cleaned. Flushed the washer bottle. Cleaned various section of washer pipe. Fitted new non return valves for the front no rear.
Now the washers perform much better but still not brilliant. Will save up for the CSI washer jet and pump soon. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

My Bosch Aerotwin are crap. They wipe fine at either end of the wiper blade but not in the middle.

Since everybody else seems to rate them could it be that the springs in my wiper arms have lost their mojo and not putting enough pressure on the wiper blade? > 110 XS Double Cab

You're not alone Hank.

Mine are the same, the performance in the middle of the blade isn't great.

I've used the Bosch Aero on several cars before, normally with great results, so I also thought it was probably something to do with the pressure on them.

I'm planning on renewing wiper boxes in the summer so Ill get new arms then and see if it improves matters. I suppose in the meantime slightly bending the arms to apply some more pressure may help, but I've not tried.
