Fuel gauge swings
Hello!

My fuel gauge drops quite significantly when turning right. Ordinary I’d say this is “normal” due to the fuel motion in the tank, but I don’t think I’ve noticed it before. Does this mean my fuel pump / sender is on the way out?

Does your speedometer works? This behavior also happens when the speedo is disconnected from the transducer. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

^^^^ because the fuel guage "damping" circuitry is built into the speedo itself

Mine went wrong some time back, so when the fuel level got to about 3/4 tank the guage would drop down to not much. I bypassed the speedo wiring so the guage runs directly off of the sender unit now.

OK when you drive along it flips around like an old series 2 guage, but at least its accurate. Might try and graft in a Series 3 damper unit if I can find one.
