Remote Controlled Snatch?
Anyone fancy a V8 Auto 110 Snatch with additional complications?

They've got 5 in the latest Brightwells auction...

I'd not realised that the V8 had been swapped out for a diesel, but it makes sense given the rest of the fleet and is confirmed here:

How big a job would they be to strip back to the standard vehicle, des anyone know if all the electronics plug into the original looms or if their totally specific to the deployment?

Be interesting to see what they make.

That's fascinating. Once again showing just how adaptable the basic vehicle is. Darren

I cannot begin to imagine the cost to the taxpayer of each vehicle bought on the UOR, I bet it was well into five, possibly even six, figures per vehicle.

Can't seem to find how many were converted, maybe 12, but total costs given as:

"The project took 11 months to move from procurement decision to operational use, and cost £50m in total"

Around £5million per vehicle would sound about right.

I read separately that the remote control contract was £15 million. Perhaps this equipment has been re-purposed, along with the expensive ground penetrating radar kit?

One didn't sell. The others went at prices in the pic (+10% +VAT)

Wow, a Landrover-based vehicle which has depreciated even faster than a Range Rover!

If the Department of Guesswork figures are roughly right, it has depreciated from £5M to £5k in about 10 years, so £450k per year.

The ground penetrating radar kit appears to be missing, although some of the remote control kit is there. Question is whether the separate joystick control kit is included; and if it is whether it operates on a military wavelength you could not use?

I wonder even if you could get the manuals for them, via an MOD FoI request, they would be so heavily redacted as to be useless for remote control.
