Had a similar problem with mine a week or so ago, I've put injector and turbo cleaner in the tank and touch wood the fault hasn't re occurred

I had the same problem and cured it by getting a BAS remap via the tool that Pete Bell sends out,

Cheers chaps. I am tempted in the near future to get a stage 1 and ERG blank. Just in a bit of a fix for tomorrow. I have cleared the code but not driven since as I’ve had a drink😏
Think my option for the long drive and week away is to take the OBD reader and keep resetting if it comes up. Then on return, look at getting sorted. |

So I’ve cleared the code (and stopped drinking) and took the car for a 2 minute drive round the block. Engine light has not come back on and it drives fine.
So plan to drive to Cornwall tomorrow morning as planned from the Midlands….. 3.5 hours of mainly motorway. So if needing a blow out is what is required, that should do it. Taking the reader with me to reset if needed. Never had breakdown cover as I’ve always been very self sufficient….. anyone know if I do end up incapacitated in Cornwall if you can just sign up to AA or the likes right then and there and get towed back under their cover? Or do you have to be a member before breaking down?!!! |

If you don’t already, consider running Millers diesel additive as soon as you can.

I agree with DAZ110. A good long run getting everything heated up and cleaned out does wonders with the 2.2. It doesn´t like short journeys at all. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

I’m sure my 2.2 runs much better since I started putting Redex in the tank (not tried Millers) & totally agree it needs a good blast down the motorway now & again to give it a good clean through. Premium diesel seemed to have a positive effect too, but I’ve settled on standard diesel & a splash of Redex. It’s quite subjective though, in my mind my engine is sparkling clean inside!

Same system as me, regular diesel and Millers. Stick to that permanently.
Typically 99% of the time use Esso too, not that it’s that critical. Diesel techs commonly swear by it, I was skeptical at first but now use permanently. K9F on here started me off on it. So you recon there’s a difference between supermarket fuels and Esso? There’s certainly a difference in price…. £5-6/tank.
Would you believe that I popped into Aldi this morning to pick up a few basics to last us the first day of holiday…. They only had diesel redex twin pack…. So bought some and banged a bottle in my full tank. Now sitting in a holiday home in Cornwall after an uneventful journey and no engine warning light. Fingers crossed for the rest of the week. |

Prevention is better than cure with your 2.2 especially if you only do short journeys. I would recommend a fuel cleaning additive every 6months and then use Millers on every fill.
DPF’s are crazy, burn three times the fuel to save half the particulates. Get rid of it and let your engine perform at its best Ride like you stole it!!

Back from Holiday. Many hundreds of miles covered and no issues. 2 full tanks with that redex went through, so hopefully that has done some sort of cleaning.
At least the fix was removal of the fault code. One of the easier ones for the time being at least… |
