BFG KM3 255/85's fitted today
Well finally pulled the trigger and replaced the original continentals with 50k on them with 5 new BF Goodrich KM3 mud terrains. I chose the 255/85 r16 as I felt they were a good balance in terms of size.

So far I am super pleased, they actually feel a smoother ride than the old cross contacts and no noticeable (additional) road noise. Very Happy

Brilliant tyre. Can’t fault mine and I like the newer pattern more than the old. Enjoy.

Really nice, I’ve been delighted with my KM2’s. When the next set are due (hopefully not too soon!)
The KM3 is what I’ll be going for for sure.

Only single downside is the price is a lot, though not as much as Maxxis. But that is made up for with longevity and they are tough as hell. Thumbs Up Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

I'd like to replace my KO2'S with KM3'S when the time comes, just because of the size. I just wonder how well they perform in the wet at speed. I look forward to some updates over time.

Certainly a fantastic looking tyre and the size is perfect. Thumbs Up James

Was especially pleased that I didn't even have to adjust the steering stops, no rubbing even on boost alloys.

You clearly didn't have optimal steering before and probably don't now!

Get it sorted and turn on a six pence. My 110 often out turns 90s in hairpin turns when out green Laning and I'm running 255s

I don't suppose you have measured the actual height of these have you? I'm thinking of getting a set at some point and wondered if they were a genuine 33" tyre or whether they came up small.

I haven't seen a data sheet for the current incarnation but from memory the older versions were either 33.1" or 33.3" I don't expect there was any reason to lie about it as they are metric tyres while the imperial sizes (33/12.5/15 etc) were often smaller than the nominal sizing.

best tyre out there in my opinion. Far better in the wet than the older KM2, very quiet for a mud terrain compared to Cooper's etc and still amazing off road.

I swapped from AT2's to these and don't think they are any worse than the all terrains on the road. Yes, I do not drive quickly and push them into corners but they aren't supposed to be a performance road tyre.

I like that size you have gone also, suits the 90 and boosts really well!

What are the noise levels of the KM3 like compared to KM2?

The KM2s were always noisy (compared to the original MT KM) with a particular resonance in our Defenders (3 vehicles all with KM2) and they get quite a lot worse with age too. I'm wondering whether to replace the oldest set with KM3, or get Coopers or something else. ---

Well I cannot do a comparison of KM2 to KM3, but all I can say is that there is little difference between the factory fit continentals and the KM3. I would also add the the ride is smoother and bumps in the road are *slightly* less sever with the KM3.

Soooo 7 months on... how have you found the KM3s dnorrishill?

Noise and road manners in particular... I'm going to assume they do the business off the tarmac!

Tagging on the back of that comment to see opinions too.

I'll need some new tyres soon and figured I'd throw these in the mix. I did enjoy KM2's for a brief period but that was some time ago now.
