P400 with 18” down under
Replaced the 19” gloss black alloys today that where shod with the LR OEM GY AT’s with
a fully legit 18” set up compliments of Tuff Ant. Rear caliper changed for a different
LR setup (fully tested and signed off by the Aussie regulator ADR), 18” Tuff Ant black
satin alloys ET27, Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 275/65 R18. The tyres being LT construction
should handle the majority of what 🇦🇺 can throw at them, more so than the LR OEM
offering

From what i can gleam they are the same that are fitted to the the later model D5's apparently.
same stopping power, same number of pistons, bore, use the same brake pads even as the
original callipers on the D300/P400.. The old calipers were put in the boxes the new ones
came in, all LR branded.. Basically it comes down to the shape enables for the 18" wheel to fit

I had to have the work done at a specific non franchised LR specialist, so Tuff Ant can
ensure the ADR cert is applied.. Insurance is ok . Be interesting when it comes to a warranty
claim, its an LR part fitted by an LR fitted independent specialist (can do servicing etc even
during warranty periods). Time will tell if LR will stuff me around if i put in a claim at any point.

Hello, would it be possible to get the parts numbers for the rear brake stirrups from the D5 you used?

If you are on the “All new Defender owners group” on Facebook, reach out
to Andrew or Natassia Pomroy from Tuff Ant Australia or send them an inquiry via the
Tuff Ant Australian regional web site, they should be able to provide all the details.
I paid for a fully certified package, so just turned up at the indie LR specialist, I received
no parts directly yet another pommie bar steward down under

Has LR "fixed" the P400 problem of having the rear calipers too large for 18" wheels in the 2022 model year? I'm looking at the parts catalog on a LR Dealer site and the 18" wheels are listed as compatible with the Defender 110 3.0L 6 cylinder SE, and the part number for the rear calipers on the 2.0L and 3.0L are the same.

Compatible with the 3.0 diesel (D200/250 only) but not the petrol as far as I’m aware. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Hey Zilch - why did you go with a 27mm offset instead of a 44mm offset which is closer to OE? The smaller offset moved the tire an inch closer to the fender lip. Any concern about clearance?

Hi, sorry for the delay, the ET27 offset for the Simpson alloy and ET29 for the Kimberley are the
ones certified by the Aussie regulator (required in Oz for insurance purposes), tested and recommended
by Tuff Ant for P400/D300, i am not sure if they have put any other offset forward.. Might be worth
pinging Andrew Pomroy at Tuff Ant Australia (on FB Defender owner groups) to see what else they are
thinking of doing.

p.s. to answer your other question, the front is a tight fitting but there is no rubbing from the
tyres even on full lock.. and the Falken spec was recommended by Tuff Ant yet another pommie bar steward down under
