Amazon left us more than a delivery
People question why we need a 4x4, when a van loses a sump on their way to our house

It doesn't look that rough aswell. Just shows you how deceptive a few "small" ruts or bumps can be.

At the risk of stereotyping all Amazon drivers, I bet he was going like a bat out of hell to get all of his deliveries done ahead of the run time so he could finish early.

Did he carry on driving it until Sammy the seizure set in or a rod popped out to say hello?

Nope, not "so he could finish early", but so the poor sod could keep his zero-hours, no worker's rights job. My son started with them to get a a bit of money when he was a student, because he was not prepared to break speed limits and park illegally in order to clear all the deliveries he was expected to do in a day he was "let go" after two days.

Too much is expected by delivery drivers for sure, the pay isn’t that great either much akin to HGV driving.
So many of these things are taken for granted, 85 + drops per day and the rest is no mean feat, day in, day out. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

What’s really interesting is that I was chatting to a DPD driver yesterday as he was sat on my drive for ten minutes before getting out to deliver the parcel. I asked why and he said that if he delivers before the beginning of the hour slot it is counted as a failed delivery Shocked

Utterly ridiculous…

I have had the same thing with DPD Laughing Must be so frustrating for the drivers, but this also shows that DPD and pressurising their drivers to do more than is humanly possible.

DPD give you an hours time slot first thing in the morning and they are pretty reliable round here. Their App is fantastic for tracking your parcel up to delivery.

One of my old School friends turned up delivering for Amazon a couple of weeks ago. He gave up his last job (as a Chef) when lock down came to deliver parcels. He said he found it fairly easy, he worked shorter hours and he was more than happy with what they paid him. He did tell me what he earns. I don't think it is right to repeat on an open forum, although not a life changing rate, I was quite surprised after all I have heard about the usual couriers poor wages.

One thing I have never understood. DPD, Hermes, Parcel Force always tend to be the same driver. They appear to have their round which would seem common sense. Bit like a Postman. Learn your customers. I cannot remember seeing the same Amazon driver ever?

I think something similar to the picture posted by the OP happened to a chap that was once driving behind me many years ago. I was happily cruising along this road, when all of a sudden spotted a substantial rock in the middle of the road. 3 options I had.. 1. slam the brakes, 2. abrupt change of lane 3. take a calculated risk.
At that time, I calculated that If I steer a bit to the right I would avoid the diffs... and my calculation was right. Unfortunately there was no time for the driver behind me in his little hatchback to stop or change lane. Felt sorry for him. He was not following me any more. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

It is relieving to see that Amazon are standing by their word and accelerating in order to become carbon net-zero and returning said carbon to the environment...

I presume you are chasing Amazon regarding the environmental contamination aspect of this delivery...?!

Calling Censored on that, that works out to be 1 drop every 8.5 minutes based on a 13 hour shift with 1 45 minute break. In 20 years driving artics the most I’ve ever done in a day was 25, and that was flat out for 12 hours in a very local area. 85 is cloud cuckoo land.
