(Another) total loss of drive
My sister's 90 lost all drive on Friday afternoon.

I suspect the usual suspect, her last adapter shaft failure was at 22,000, her 2013 90 has now done about 60K.

The noise from the transmission area is pretty horrible, even with the main gearbox in neutral. the noise only goes away with the clutch pedal down. We tried hi and low range and forward and reverse before I towed her home. She said the diff lock had been coming on on it's own a few times over the past fortnight, so maybe it's something else?

What's the verdict? It's going to have to be investigated, but it would be useful to have an idea beforehand.

I'd appreciate recommendations on a local outfit (not Peter Vardy!) for investigation and rectification; we're in Aberdeenshire.

Mann automotive in Laurencekirk. Next to the train station for easy drop off and pick up. I have been using them for years. Nothing ever a problem.

Thanks for the recommendation, being north Aberdeenshire, Mann are a bit remote for us. Greenbank were very busy and couldn't look at the job for three or four weeks so she went to Lochside Motors at Bridge of Don.

It was another adapter shaft failure. Unfortunately, the parts were in the skip by the time I went with my sister to collect the Defender. The mechanic said he used to do the same job regularly on older Shoguns. Current Steeds:
