What about when a door is open, Roy? Does the light still reach the area that you would step out into or do the doors cast a shadow? Darren

Optimil's website states that their wiring loom is plug and play - lights com on when unlocking/opening the door. Rgds.

I bought some cheaper ebay lamps x 4, the ones that are about 4 for a tenner but are nice and thin, put a sheet of diffuser vinyl over the lenses of each to diffuse the light out even more and make it a softer light, and put them behind the sills lighting downwards into the step out and in area by each door (on mine behind the sliders).

They're invisible unless you're underneath it, I operate mine on a switch inside deliberately so that I can use them when camping. I quite often find a top lamp quite intrusive, so I thought having these as a sort of soft floor lighting would work quite well.

Haven't wired them up yet but the trial said there was about comparable light available to my normal daily driver car (not a defender) so hoping it'll be a good way out. Total cost about £22 plus a bit of wiring.

They'll get dirty offroad clearly, but a quick wipe with a cloth when getting into camp should be fine. Only takes a second. Hoping they don't look like neons.......!! My days on the sea front in a Mk6 Escort are long, LONG gone!! (I do still have the sub though.....!)

Not the best photos, I also have additional footwell lights which spill a bit of light.
