Puma Dash to TD5 Bulkhead
Hi Folks,

Gonna attempt fitting Puma dash onto the Td5 bulkhead. Could someone give me datum points for where the reinforcement bar is to go. I see in pics there is studs for it on the bullhead so I was going to install rivnuts and bolt it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Shane

Hi guys,

I've done the same conversion with a few ongoing issues - would it be possible to share the same information with me please because I also need to sort out mounting the reinforcement bar properly?

Conscious that this is my first post on this particular forum, so very happy to contribute and share what I've done and learned so far when installing the Puma dash in a TD5. I've had various plays with air-conditioning, sorting out the gearstick/dash clearance and getting the instrument cluster and milometer working, so let me know if any of this is of interest!

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

I haven't started yet, I got sidelined by my engine and gearbox.

My build is an automatic so I won't have the issues you are facing but from reading others post is see people are fitting discovery selector rods to their R380 gbox and that pushes the gear lever back more

I did this a few years back no real problems that you can’t sort

Thanks for replying both.

In the first post Shane was seeking information on how to locate the Puma dash reinforcement bar on the TD5 bulkhead. @ibexman I think from your message you PMd that info to Shane - please can you share with me?

This is the problem I'm currently trying to solve e.g. how to fix the Puma reinforcement bar on a TD5 bulkhead it wasn't designed for?!

Many thanks

Andy

Thanks for sharing and for the PM photos.

Are the last few photos of you fitting the bar into your truck?

Here's a couple of pics of mine in a 2002 TD5. Outstanding problems are:
- The dash needs securing better as it's moved a bit and fouls the gearstick in 1/3/5 gear
- Aircon needs improving (I have an aftermarket solution but it's not up to the job)
- Might consider a Disco gearbox to move the gearstick away from the dash
- The homemade centre console needs replacing as the satnav is too heavy for it and it bounces around. I have a cunning plan for how I can adapt a Mud double DIN console and use it with my custom aircon and heater controls.

Not sure why I though turning a TD5 into a Puma was such a good idea! Smile
