Loss of drive, clutch replacement
Hopefully you guys can help me here.

I've a 2.4 Pump and I lost all drive from the clutch. The clutch pedal goes to the floor with no resistance and only the clutch-spring pushing the pedal back up. Can change through all gears but obviously pointless as clutch won't engage.

I'm not sure what the problem actually is, but I'm planning on no-nonsense approach and therefore have ordered up the following:

and

https://lofclutches.com/shop/clutches/clut...cba1185463

Hopefully this will fix whatever the problem might be, and future-proof the clutch for years to come.

Is there anything else that I am missing though? Anything else I should consider changing when the gearbox is that stripped? Also I take it that I will need new gearbox and transfer box oil - what's the recommended oils for these, and where's best to find out how much do I need?

All help / advice appreciated.

Thanks

I've got a rattle, when idling in neutral, since replacing the clutch with an LOF unit. It certainly wasn't there before. As you say, very annoying. To the point where I'm half minded to strip the transmission again to try to resolve it.

This does concern me a bit, especially with the LOF "extreme spec" clutch.

It's over-kill for anything I need, but I figured better safe that sorry.

If anybody is currently running the LOF Extreme spec clutch I would love to hear their thoughts.

Just to conclude the thread, I got my extreme spec clutch fitted (along with extreme spec one piece output shaft) and everything is spot on. No rattles and similar weight to the OE clutch.

More than happy with it.

Does anyone know what is rattling after fitting a replacement clutch. Is it confined to LOF units. Only hear it in neutral and it's not there every time.

There's a good explanation of the cause of this rattle from Blackwolf here, which can be exaggerated by uprated clutches:

What actual fault did you find on dismantling??

Clutch was literally in bits. Seemed to just collapse / disintegrate. I'll try and get a photo of the old one.

I spent a fortune on other associated bits, which feels a bit like a waste when just a new clutch would have done, but at least I know that everything is tip-top now.

It also drives a lot better now - bit less slack in everything and nice clean notchy gear changes.
