Car mats, boot protection and dog ramps
Hi All,

I'd love to get some feedback on the following - apologies if these items may've been covered in different threads. But does anyone have great suggestions for the following items (aside from the ones being sold by Land Rover - just trying to see what else is out there).

1. high quality rubber car mats
2. high quality boot protection that also extends to protect the rear bumper (from dog claws!)
3. A good dog ramp suitable for a large collie

Thanks all!

Hi

Travall do a boot mat and dog guard

https://www.travall.co.uk/land-rover/defender-2020--

None of the others have Defender stuff yet - Hatchbag / Boot Buddy etc...

If you need it now then probably LR parts - but you can be the Guinea Pig for the manufacturers - I have seen a few are looking for people to borrow their car for measuring etc..

Only think good available for a dog is Trans K9 - dog cage - that obviously protects boot and can be speced with bumper protector.

https://transk9.com/select/land-rover/land...esent/b43/

Look to New Defender Parts for normal boot mat and bumper cover or Powerful UK

For interior mats - in UK fitted ones are only LR at present (rubber) - in the USA I know there is another brand - but costs are similar to LR UK prices.

For Dog Ramp - just look to Amazon - but Aldi had them a month or two ago for like £20 but do not see them listed at present

Thanks for the advice - yes it's amazing the difference in cost between the LR dog ramp and other makes!

We have a PetSafe Happy Ride Extra-long Telescoping Dog Ramp which can be found on Amazon for about £150. It is well made and we use it for our German Pointers.

They are pricey but I can’t fault LRs rubber mats.

As already said New Defender Parts do decent boot mats at a fraction of LRs price.

They also do a full size stainless steel bumper protector. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Powerful UK now also sells rubber floor mats - but they are flat mats front and back

Hatchbag do great boot liners that protect the boot floor and sides and also can be specced with a flap that covers the bumper. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Just a quick comment on the Aldi dog ramp. Unlike many Aldi specials that I have found to be good value and of reasonable quality, sadly we weren't impressed with the dog ramp. It was an all plastic moulded affair that really wasn't sturdy enough to support the weight of a reasonable sized dog. From memory it was advertised as being suitable for dogs up to 20kg. Our elderly Vizsla is around 16Kg and as soon as she put her weight on the ramp it started to twist and bend. More like a spring board than a ramp. As a result she couldn't be encouraged to walk up or down it. It might have been OK for a smaller breed, but in my opinion it wasn't fit for purpose. Took it back and got a refund.

So what you're saying is that it's a poor fit for my 60kg Great Dane as she gets a bit older and a bit lazier???

Yep. She might need a "tail" lift.

Agree, I also got the deep sided rubber mats thrown in as well (literally, they were just chucked in the back🙂!)

Good quality all the same. Cheers Simon

Thanks for all your advice - it is really appreciated. Whilst expensive I do really like the JLR deep rubber mats. I just need to make a decision on boot and bumper protection. The Aldi ramp sounds cost effective but my collie, Kubrick, is called 'Kuby 5 bellies' for a reason - and bless him he's an old boy now. I also have a young sausage dog that I'm sure would be fine on the Aldi ramp - but I'll need to get something sturdy for the big fella.
