Many vehicles have a drain cock integrated into the bottom of the radiator. A simple screw in valve with an O ring to seal it. They work ok, other than they can snap when trying to open after not being touched for 10 years Very Happy

I am about to be defeated here.

Tried to follow WSM step by step but I can’t figure out how to remove the hood latch panel. It is secured with studs that prevent me from removing it. I can almost feel the studs behind the headlight but no way to get a spanner in there.
I’m approaching 3h now so I guess you guys did it differently from me. Any advice is welcome. Can the rad be removed without CAC?

Use two nuts on the studs, nip them tight together, then use a ring spanner on the inner nut and the stud will screw out as the outer nut is acting as a locking nut.

You only need to do this on One side as the panel will then slip over the studs on other side.

If not sufficient room for two nuts then use mole grips, get a very tight clamp on them and then rotate out. This will destroy stud but you can then replace with a bolt. That’s what I ended up doing as the studs were not long enough for two nuts to fit to undertake the preferred solution.

If you have a half width nut that helps if reduced room as it will still be a good locking nut

Another example of LR going out of their way to create an over complex fixing method by the looks of it, causing extra difficulty down the line with maintenance. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

It’s an M8 stud, that I think I replaced with an M8 x 25mm bolt. I’m struggling to remember why they used a stud, I think it’s something to do with the wing and ease of removal, however I just can’t remember.

Hopefully someone who has lost less brain cells to the demon drink will remember Very Happy

Thanks Ianh, you saved my day!
Now all is back together and I hope to have gained some cooling power for the Alps in a month.
