Got told today the rust on the heat plate is getting fixed and replaced but only as a good will gesture. So im guessing that means in 6 months time when the new one rusts again don’t come back asking to get it fixed Rolling with laughter

Not sure how hot it gets, but could you give it a light coating of something like ACF50 once replaced to try and stop it going the same way again? Sad that such steps are needed but perhaps a little bit of TLC now might help in the long term.

Is rust on the new defender a real issue or is it rare?
I ask as I gave up my old Defender model due to concerns about long term rust... I am about to order a 110 but if this new model also rusts it might not be the car for me. I can cope with annoying but fixable issues such as electronics but I am done with rust and leaks. Very Happy Many thanks.

15 months and 11700 miles into ownership the only signs of corrosion on my 110 is one tiny spot on one of the dealer fitted recovery eyes at the back and I put that down to having had to use them last winter to recover a neighbour’s Evoque from a ditch that it slipped into during a snowy spell when I used a metal shackle instead of a soft shackle to attach strop to recovery eye. The recovery eyes don’t appear to have much paint on them - maybe a single top coat with no primers? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I would say its a problem just because i was told they would fix mine as a good will gesture. To me that says they know its a problem and dont bother coming back when it happens again.
