Should have bought an Audi, nobody would take any notice of him even in an RS Audi or an e-Tron because they look just like every other Audi on the road......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

One of the great things about Defender ownership is positive enthusiasm you get from other people. Don’t wish that away.

Wasn't the OP's issue, in part at least, that his new Defender was being compared unfavourably to the old one?

It’s all part of the Land Rover community.

I’ve owned a D5 so I’m immune to negative comments Laughing 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Can't see the problem here.

Sometimes people come up to me and compare me negatively to a younger man.

Now that hurts. Big Cry

Deaton instead of moaning you should embrace the fact that people want to comment on your individuality and choice of car ,the bottom line is You like it that’s all that matters cheers Chris

I get the same everywhere I go. It's as if I'm driving an exotic car or something. Pointing, staring, chatting with the person next to them, pulling up next to me yelling out "how do you like it?" "nice rig!" "I'm saving up for one!" and getting instagram messages. I'm ok with it. '21 L663 X-Dyn HSE P400 Carpathian

Just a comment based on your RS Audi mention. Having had a BMW M5 in the past you end up with a different issue, with loads of people wanting to race you. You'd be driving along, minding your own business and some kid in a 1 litre Corsa would spot you. You'd hear then drop it down to like 2nd gear at 60mph with the engine screaming for mercy then try to speed past you. The whole time just sitting at the speed limit.

Or you'd get the guys in their 330d or equivalent cars managed to get past you coming off a roundabout pointing and making laughing faces because their maybe remaped 330d is faster. Only I'd never had used more than 25% of the throttle which in fairness would out accelerate most cars but I was just making regular progress. Not there to race and even if I was, what's the point vs a car that is obviously much slower.

I've removed all the badges off my M760Li and now no one seems to know what it is. I had one guy once say he liked the colour of my car and hoped he could get a 3 series like mine some day. I had to agree they are lovely cars Laughing

If you don't like it, just take the badges off and the general public won't have a clue. If you put Dacia Duster badges on they'll leave you alone Wink OK maybe not in a Defender as it's an icon from it's design but honestly having people ask you about it isn't a big deal. Having the general public behaving like idiots trying to race you is much worse.
