Can it be repaired Gareth or is it a new screen requirement? 2015 HT XS 90

I was reading on a farce book site that there are numerous cases of the screen cracking from either a minor impact or for no reason at all?
Could it be that there is too much flex in the body or is it a case of substandard windscreens? Jim |

Yes seems to be prone to damage. I think mine is repairable. It’s a small crack in the outer laminate, about 10mm.
NFU paying minus £50. Mine is definitely an impact. About 50 mph on M54, heavy rain. Car in front wandered onto centre reservation and flicked up some gravel. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |

I don’t think it’s body flex as that would mean cracks from the edge with no reason, all the cracked screens I’ve seen have been from impact damage - just at a much higher incidence rate than I would consider normal.
My theory is it’s just cost/weight saving meaning thinner windscreens which are less robust. Autoglass tried to fob me off with an aftermarket screen hence the delay as now I have to wait for the proper one to be available. |

Ouch. Got to drive from SE Manchester to Torquay (and back) with work next week, am going to be nervously not driving too close behind other vehicles... Steve N | 21MY Defender

Is a pepple a really small pebble? |

But if the proper ones keep cracking, why not try an aftermarket one? It might be better. |

I very much doubt it.
The issue is warranty - LR won’t honour anything connected with the windscreen (an awful lot) if we were to use a non-original replacement screen. |

It’s going to be repaired. No point in going through all the hassle for the sake of a small chip. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Where is that zone? It’s at 8’oclock in my view, in the zone that is wiped by the right hand wiper. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

ISTR it’s a line from top of screen to bottom, passing through the centre of the steering wheel, then 10cm either side. But i might be wrong
