265/65 or 70 profile tyres
Torn between 265/70x17 or 265/65x17 Tyres for the new wheels and wondering what people's thoughts are on benefits (or not) of either size??
Will be mainly road use, maybe v.light off road and some winter use......

The 70 profile tyre is 0.3% smaller in overall height whereas the 65 profile is -3.5% but much easier to obtain

Stick with the 70 profile would be my choice. The 65 will lower gearing, make speedo read faster and I reckon Defenders look a bit odd on smaller than standard wheels. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I've only run 16s and 18s on my defender, but I'd certainly avoid going for a 'smaller' overall option, as above, it just won't look right.

Stick to the same or slightly larger if possible. Is there another (easy to obtain/lots of choice) 17" size that's slightly bigger overall?

Thanks that was my thoughts also. ...

I have decided on the relatively new Pirelli AT+ and they only do these options in wider 17", my logic being that the 17" will still offer a slightly better ride than 18" (or larger) but have a bit of a better look than std size......maybe I'm nuts
