DeeEss, The Swiss inspectors seem to have quite tight rules and are stringent in their application. So given a 255/85 r16 was never a standard fit from Land Rover whereas 238/85 r16 and 265/75 r16 were. Will this cause you any issues in the same way as having a nonstandard offset rim fitted will ?

Valid question. By the book, 11% variance on tire height, but have specific rules on wheels and size. For 285/75R16 I would need an 8” wheel with DTC papers (naka ANR complies) or for a 255/85R16 a 6.5” suffices. If I use an original LR wolf with no more than a 255/85 then I don’t need to do anything with the inspectors as it’s already approved.

Edit: regarding rims, I could put a 255/85 on my SVXs and not need to do anything, but I am tired of looking at them. They are original to my truck, undamaged, and I will keep them. But im just tired of looking at them.
My Sawtooths with Hakapilettttaaa are awesome. I shouldn’t disturb that set as they just work.
Wolfs with 255 KM3s are the best looking combo I can think of, but I need to cross my fingers that I can live with the weight and noise! Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

Hi DeeEss,

I've used the KO2s for the past five years. Great overall tyre. Not best at anything, but a very complete tyre. And perfectly comfortable for drives of 500 miles or more. Note that's on an 18" lightweight (Bowler) rim, which by the way was noticeably lighter than my mate's 18" Sawtooth/KO2 set up. Night and day.

But next time round, for the same reason you mention, I'm likely to move to the Pirelli AT Plus, which has great reviews as a road biased truck tyre. Looks good, lighter, quieter, road biased compound, full winter rating etc. Might be one to consider. Good reviews from some forum members as well.

After much hemming and hawing, I’ve pulled the trigger on a set of black Borbet LDs with 285/75R16 KO2s from Naka. 3-6 days delivery claimed, and I’m quite looking forward to receiving them! Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

....and it turned out this didnt happen. The Borbet LDs arent available in black at the moment.
Other things not available:
KO2s in 265/75
KM3s in 255/85

Now Ive come full circle, back to Wolfs with 255 KM3s, but it seems there is a problem in the supply chain somewhere.

currently debating painting the wolfs Santorini black like my roof, or body colored (Corris Grey) Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

KM3's are marked 'NHS' - Not Highway Safe, which would be an issue if involved in an accident on a public road. Rgds.

Hi pacha, the UTV version of the tire is certainly not street legal, but the “normal” KM3 is listed by Swiss sellers as a summer tire that’s legal? Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

Maybe it's a UK market thing?

Righto, that NHS is under the “ SSV/UTV” variation, not the roads legal variation.

Would be a lot less confusing if they had named the two variants a bit more differently. Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

Still some supply chain issues, it seems. But tires are slowly coming back in stock. Still struggling internally with 1500 SFr for 5 wolfs..

Meanwhile, Sardinia is killing my OE Conti’s. This is their 6th year here, but never seen such damage. Looks like they’ve gone hard and brittle. Dated 5014.

I might need a short term solution on the dual finish rims that the truck was delivered on, until I can get some 255s on wolfs that I want.

i think the KM will be too much for your summer tyre.

Nokians on Wolf style rims for winter - i also run these.

BFG KOs for summer use

although both are winter rated. Cheers

I think you're correct and I'll be happier with KO2s.

These Kahns with 285s have come up locally. Used for 3000km they say.

The 285s looks great, aside from being mounted backwards Whistle but what are they like on the road?
