Do you keep your Defender clean?
I've always been quite obsessive about keeping a clean car - polished, waxed and looking new.

But it feels wrong with the Defender. For a utilatarian vehicle with steel wheels and rubber floors, I think the dirt kind of suits it. Or will I regret it??

Nope - last car got washed 4 times in 5 years (was an Isuzu pickup mind)

Though am thinking after a mere 250 miles at taking mine down to the local immigrant jet wash facility as there is nothing they can break on the Defender unlike the previous vehicle Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Not an auto car wash. And I'm sorry I'm not into slogging with cloths and sponges and hosepipe, cleaning is a minions job Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Hmmmm, not sure when I washed any of our fleet. Must have been spring 2019 for the older cars, and Skippy hasn’t been washed from “new” in June ‘20. It’ll have to wait until the end of the year for a wash, and that’s assuming the dealers are back to doing such a thing. Whistle

I hand washed mine yesterday for the first time since last June........... these are big vehicles to wash so I’ll be returning to the local valeting/ detailing company for £20’s worth monthly. Having the Expel clear PPF helps make it easier but it’s an expensive option!
With my old 90 I just wash that when it has too much mud on it....... much to the consternation of the Ecomentalist who lives across the courtyard. That’s the lady who buys expensive Birkenstock shoes and drives a 12 year old soot belching Citroen Berlingo non-turbo Diesel campervan.......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I was meaning from an aesthetic point of view, not simple laziness.

I wash at least once a week all 3 cars....

Pressure Rinse
Snow Foam
Pressure Rinse
Wash with sponge and bucket
Pressure rinse
Black car (LR) DI rinse with a watering can.
Towel Dry

Once every 6 months a Polish with a DA polisher and a Wax

Interim Wax every 2 to 3 months

I find it theraputic and relaxing.

Me too - I love washing my car and standing back and admiring the results is great.

But I wonder if I might prefer the Defender with a layer of dirt on it. So it looks like it actually does some work...

Not for me - there is NO pleasure to be had in washing/cleaning activities whatsoever Rolling with laughter

"cleaning is a minions job"

I must be a minion then....

As much as I like my Defender dirty it looks ace clean also. No way would I pay someone who has dropped the leather several times to clean any of our cars.

I can clean my Defender in 30 mins and it looks mint again, it also gives me the opportunity to check the tyres and other bits.

Tunes on I actually like cleaning them Shocked good job as between my wife and I we now have 5 cars that I like to look after Smile

Stand back and admire your work when its done - Love it
