The sender unit is also new, just checked with the guy that fitted the new engine.

Tank was filled and has done around 150kms since.

How do I check for resitance?

Thanks

I’ve had a wire break off at the solder joint in the fuel pump. Giving me an empty all the time reading pump out and fault was clear to see

491 ohms = fuel tank empty

The fuel tank sender is saying that tank is empty

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
had wrong sender spec Embarassed so 491 ohms = 1/2 tank of fuel prox

Interesting, definetely not an empty tank though, there's at least 40 litres in there.

So a lower resistance would indicate more fuel, is that correct?

I've just plugged the instrument panel back in and it's working! Although showing only a quarter tank full which I doubt, I'll fill it and see what happens.

So I'm guessing a corroded pin or something.

need to see if resistance changes with fuel level in the tank ?

So gauge is reading 1/4 tank but sender resistance reading indicates 1/2 tank proz

try this with instrument cluster plugged in and power up move the wiring attached plug around and see if the fuel reading changes ?

1. if so cracked solder joints between PCB and pins

2. DC voltage reading at instrument cluster plug pin 1 ( + )----and---- pin 17-( - ) battery in to instrument cluster and

DC voltage reading at instrument cluster plug pin 2 ( + )----and---- pin 17-( - ) ign input to instrument cluster readings with engine running

Thanks, I'll get to this asap. Update - Filled up yesterday, took 30 litres, gauge didn't move, still on 1/4 tank.

Does this absolutley isolate the fault to the sender unit?
