Fire retardant application on seat coverings and incorrect finishers applied to brake discs looks like JLR’s monitoring of suppliers isn’t what it used to be now they are not building the cars in traditional car building places.........

Someone has posted a similar issue today over on the FB All New Defender Owners Group and reports that their dealer claims it’s warped discs and that replacements are ore on back order........ Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I used to have a torrid time with warped discs on my D3, I would swear they were made of reinforced chocolate. Hope that’s a bit of heritage that’s not been carried forwards.

It used to be common in the early days of the D3 for parts to be unavailable as spares, but plentiful for new builds. If you jumped and stamped hard enough, your dealer could get a part from the production line. Might be a little tougher now the prod line is in EU, but only a day away by courier. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Tim, I have experienced warped discs in a few cars over the years and honestly, this doesn't feel like that, or I'd feel it all the time, this is only when a firm pedal is applied (but before emergency braking type pedal). Warped discs tend to make the drive very wobbly too and deliver vibrations through the car. This doesn't.

I have a small snag list I am building up for them to look at. Very Happy 2016 D4 HSE

It was my wife and she made me cut that expletive about the silly man on the old motorbike out.

But he was being a complete eejit, country road, pushing it along with his feet wearing leather shoes, no helmet and that van I had to brake for was the Police - who naturally didn't care about the man clearly breaking many laws! 2016 D4 HSE

To close this off for future reference, the Dealer agreed to swap out the discs and pads, as the TSB talks about the brembo brakes having been manufactured incorrectly.

So, the order went in for those parts and they are still on back order with no ETA ever.

In the meanwhile, the issue has gone, presumably because the brakes and pads are now worn in enough. I've told them to cancel the back order and lets move on with our lives. 2016 D4 HSE
