Steels have that classic, retro look to them I’m going to get a set for off roading.

I mean, maybe for a second set, but to me the steel wheels look cheap and out of place on any of the trucks especially the trucks with metallic paint.
. Sacrilege! They look exactly like what a Defender should be wearing! Our hold on the Defender name is tenuous enough as is. No need to push it;-)

They look great with alloys. They look great with steels. The best thing is you can choose whatever the hell you like. Don’t know why some people get bothered about other people’s wheel preference. Rolling Eyes https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Do you have a source for that data?

Perhaps in the later years there were more with alloys than without but I would be surprised if it’s 90% across all production.

A lot of us got the bigger engines like the P400 and the steelies don’t fit unless you change the rear brake calipers and remove the front balancer. Love the white steelies and would have got them if they came in 19’s or 20’s. I did powder coat my alloys white just because.

Anyone found any 20" steelies that fit with the stock tyres? 2020 Defender 110 SE 240D: Fuji White.

I could understand the high percentage coming with alloys after the early 1990’s but before the model change from 90/110 to Defender I would think most came of on steelies and up to 2007 steelies were always an option anyway not sure if Pumas were sold with OEM steelies.
My 1st Discovery was a V8i ES with 4 alloys and a steel spare. In 18” the spare was so heavy that you needed help to safely lift it off and on the mount. With the extra weight of steel wheels in these days of careful weighing of cars for emissions purposes does a New Defender riding on steelies have a taxation penalty over one on alloys? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Good thing about the steels is they bend after taking a heavy knock whereas alloys crack.

It rides nice on the steel wheels, even on the coils. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Full on classic look for me, anything else wasn’t an option, white roof is pricey but I wanted it all factory, it’s certainly getting noticed, had a few thumbs up from passers by.

This is definitely the best looking Defender I've seen. Sadly the 90 was too small for us and we opted for the green.

More tyre wall to soak up the bumps I guess. I can't wait for my 110 on 18" steels with the air suspension. Should be like driving on a cloud.
