Defender 90...getting hot inside!
Just bought a Defender 90 Hardtop,(2010), 2.4TDCi, Manual. Had to drive 400 motorway miles to get her home..steady 70MPH. Seat box under driver got very hot, as did handbrake lever and gaiter..had to drive with windows open and blower on high/cold. Had a look underneath..nothing obvious...nothing was overly hot....exhaust is not blowing. By contrast gear lever and low ratio lever stayed cool. Was a hot day..by UK standards!!!..things improved when the sun set. Have driven her over the past few days on country roads..average speed..50MPH and all OK. Is this normal when motorway driving?????

yes this is very normal for a Land Rover even worse when towing long distance the hand brake lever can burn your ankle if you are not careful If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Hi,

Driving through Spain yesterday our TD5 Defender 90 was the same, ambient was approx. 35'. Nicola was really complaining about the heat.

Luckily mine is LHD and my seat was fine Smile

maybe it is the gearbox/transferbox location? planning to make some heatshields up.
