Despite the fact that they are very good, I don't think they were ever a big seller in part, I suspect, because they were always very expensive. Also, Dixon Bate were taken over by Bradleys (I think) and there was a degree of rationalisation of products afterwards. Darren

It was the take-over of Bradley Dixon Bate by Al-Ko that killed the shocklink. It also sadly saw the loss of all the useful, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and the end of any sort of effective support for BDB products if my experiences are any indication.

The subject is discussed in other threads on here.

The shocklink was only really essential if you towed a caravan with a leaf-sprung truck, and probably isn't needed with coils, although most shocklink fans still prefer them. I imagine it was always a low volume, low margin product so it's probably not surprising it was dropped.

So very true a good few years ago I phoned Dixon Bate who at the time were based in Chester as I needed a part urgently. To my surprise, they offered to bring the part to Wales a journey of about seventy miles that afternoon, which they did, and a couple of hours later a guy from Dixon bate was knocking at my door. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I contacted them to try to get a new damper for a Penman style trailer coupling. The "new" Bradley denied ever making such a thing, even after I emailed a photo showing their name, part number, and NSN on the coupling. They were not just unhelpful but offhand, dismissive, and generally rude too. It was a very disappointing experience.

I'm still looking for a damper, if anyone knows where I can get one.
