Driving licence renewal

Went in to get my driving licence renewed a while ago. As it was during the Covid 19 pandemic I was wearing a mask. So there I was sitting talking to the woman behind the perspex screen when she said
"Turn to your left to have your photograph taken."
"Will I take my mask off?" I asked..... 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali
2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu
2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai

At least in Brexitland we can apply online and they'll use either your existing passport photo or your old driving licence photo. I thought they were introducing online applications in Ireland or did you just fancy a trip out! Defender 90XS SW

How long before it expires? If it's valid for 5 years, a photo with the mask ón is actually what you'll be looking like...

I've got C+E on my licence so need to renew it every 5 years, but the photo they use for the re-issue hasnt been updated for about 15 years. If it carriers on like this it'll be like I'm using Benjamin Buttons licence

^^ Ditto, and I am still smarting from having to fork out over £90 for a medical, particularly when the doc was asking me if I had any conditions! In effect it was a very expensive urine test!

Worse still, after the next cycle I'll be into the age group where HGV medicals are annual. Pragmatically speaking I suppose the money saved by running several Historic Vehicles at £0 tax pays for the annual HGV medical, but it really doesn't feel like value for money.

As I have other things on my licence besides a standard car licence I had to do it in person.
It is valid for ten years or your 70th birthday whichever comes sooner. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
