Strange symbol on dash in ECO mode 🤨
Driving today I thought id try the ECO mode on the terrain response. Apart from turning off the heated seats, steering wheel, screens, and reducing the aircon to a mild breeze, the only other thing I noticed was a strange green symbol showing a foot on a peddle, sometimes solid green, others just an outline, sometimes not there at all.
It appears above the lane departure symbol to the left lower corner of the speedometer.

Cannot find any references to it in any documents.

No definitely not that. I’m not sure how to make it appear, it seems to be after so long at a constant speed. If I press the accelerator it goes solid green, if I lift off it goes green outline. If I plant the accelerator it disappears, if I touch the brake it disappears.

I was wondering if it was something to do with the mild hybrid system, but there is no description in the guide. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Put it on the Facebook group and use the ‘Question for JLR employees’ option see if any of them can help.

Actually I’m just thinking maybe ECO is the mode you need to be in for the electric battery to drive without the engine starting at low speed?

The only symbol that I remember pops up just above the Lane Departure icon in my instrument cluster (virtual display in one-gauge mode) is the "Follow Mode" of the ACC, which turns green when it's active, off when not active - meaning no cars in front of me for ACC to track and follow - or white if I turn off Adaptive Cruise Control. That would be symbol # 4 below, and looks nothing like what you described obviously.

Any of these symbols look familiar?

The three icons on the top shows how efficient and economical you are with the Accelerator pedal, Brakes and speed and will help you maximize fuel economy.

So if you stepped on the gas pedal you will see it go 1 bar or 2 bar and red which means you aren't trying to be economical, if you take it easy with it it will show up as green and means you are trying to be economical.

No, it’s none of those symbols Umbertob. Simon, it appears in the area above the temp display in your picture.

I’ll set up a GoPro on the dash today, I have a trip for work so will record what’s happening. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

@Simon, I’ve not seen those symbols your showing. I have mine set to show the clock in the middle, it looks like you have it set to show 4x4 info? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

This is the nearest I can find on the internet. This is from a list of Audi symbols. It shows that a situation has been detected ahead that requires a lower speed.

I think I’ve worked it out. I reckon this is the elusive “Mild Hybrid in operation” indicator.

If you drive at a constant speed, any speed because it doesn’t seem to be related to the speed limit detected, this symbol will appear. To keep the symbol on solid green you have to use the lightest of accelerator pedal press. Press too hard it disappears. Lift of and coast, it goes outline green, lightly press the accelerator it goes solid green again. Brake it disappears.

If you stop at traffic lights for example, the engine shuts off as normal. It takes a mile or so before it will come back on again, I guess this is recharging the 48v battery?

It only works in ECO mode. Here’s some pictures of the icon taken by my passenger.
