A bit off topic but I saw in a link in this thread and it is a question I always wanted to ask.

Can you tell me what this hole is for in the headlight panel?

thanks

No, the Defender nozzles don't fit that hole, and the short answer is that nobody seems to know. it may be that it was for a different design of nozzle that never saw the light of day, but otherwise it is a mystery.

The photo below shows the genuine backing plate for the genuine Defender nozzle in front of a wing with the mystery holes, and shows clearly that there is absolutely no similarity. This thread has a lot of info on the headlamp washers, if you're interested, including this and other photos.

Just to give you an idea on the look Nananatenga in black on mine; like Hank, I'm sure they were a lot cheaper when I bought them, I suspect Brexit tariff?

I am also keen on these but wanted to know if they are a straight swap with original surrounds or do additional holes need to be drilled?

As far as I recall I didn't have to drill extra holes, the side lamps hold them in place with the Series type headlamp surround but it worth buzzing Overlander. Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains

The Nakatanenga grille however is a different matter, that has been on since 2010 and came in a textured finish which started falling off almost straight away. I repainted it once and it was a right royal pain to do. Where the paint had fallen off it cleaned up to bare alloy a treat but where the paint was still present it just would not shift so eventually I settled for a combination of etch & high-build primer which seemed to do the trick.

I'm going to add the trims Defender Upgrades sell as the price is a lot more palatable.

Thanks, I saw these Defender Upgrades ones but I don’t want the gloss finish.

I’m now thinking that I might buy the billy basic surrounds available on eBay and get painting.

Or just spunk £200 and save all the carry on!

I really wonder if anyone has simply taken a standard finisher, such as BTR7850PUC which are dirty cheap and modified it to look like a series 3 headlamp surround. I have a few spare of those, and would not mind trying out one myself either on a wood table saw, with a fine tooth blade, or a router. Unfortunately I do not have the dimensions for the Series 3 surround.

That's largely what I did in my earlier link. I didn't trim the edges off but that would have been my next move if I'd stuck with that look. Darren

TMD have just delivered heritage style for me in the colour of my choice - although I chose body colour.

Look really good and helpful service. They do have the little grills though in a zunsport style...

sorry I’ve seen the gloss black version but wondered if you had any pics of your body coloured ones?

Given how cheap they are I was going to paint mine to match the grill with BBQ paint as well I'm a scotsman and its cheap and actually quite tough.
