Good question!
I didn't look earlier, but shall do so in the morning when its light out! My gut feeling now that you've mentioned it, is its not going to be there ... I think this is a converted pickup, did the 90 pickups come with anti roll bars front and rear? Just curious that if its missing... as it was a stock truck. |

90's can feel a bit skittish at the rear, especially when unloaded.
Also check tyre pressures and wear on tyres. Tyre type can also affect handling in damp/wet conditions. |

MTs on wet/slippy roads can be a bit scary if driven too fast on corners etc. Jeff

Thanks all, yes seems as this particular one was a converted pickup it's missing ARBs.
My pickup drives well without, but then again its also a different setup with more road focus tyres! |

Right I've decided to fit front and rear anti roll bars to this one, is there a major difference between an upgraded pair with upgraded bushes vs OEM front and rear?
Suppose what I'm effectively asking is going from no ARBs, would you go to OEM or straight to an upgrade? It will likely remain as 99.9% road focused with towing! |

If you are staying on road, go straight for an uprated set in my opinion. I can't imagine there will be a lot of difference in the cost.
I'm not sure why you would use mud tyres if you are always on road though? 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

The garage have since quoted for an OEM and uprated Terrafirma kit with approx £400 difference. Both front and rear. Kits probably the easy route, as nothing is there aside from brackets and chassis mounting. In any case would rather a polybush setup.
You are right, it was just at the time I fitted the set of wheels, they came with brand new Cooper STT tyres. They seemed ideal, as this defender sat idle for really bad weather days. Its purpose has now changed and so it will get a more road focused tyre soon. To be fair for an MT/R, they're still very good in the dry and fine in any other condition providing you're sensible. But putting up with this amount of roll probably doesn't help it. |

According to your original description, the problem arises when driving in the wet. My experience without and with my recently fitted ARB´s is that they improve matters dramatically in the dry, when the high grip level of the tyres and the faster cornering speeds causes body roll. In the wet, they make little or no difference.
I´m even tempted to say they make the vehicle slide a little earlier on greasy wet roads. Definitely more understeer (lack of front end grip - the vehicle pushes to the outside of corner). The body roll (without ARB´s) helped to load up the outer wheels and help them to gain more grip. With ARB´s the pressure remains more evenly distibuted. In the dry, an advantage. But not in the wet. Check how old your tyres are. Older tyres (after only as little as 2 years) are alot worse in the wet and in snow. M/T´s are particularly bad. I had 255/85 M/T´s until last summer, and the difference to the brand new A/T´s I replaced them with was enormous. I´m not saying you shouldn´t fit ARB´s, as I´m very pleased with the improvement they made on my 90, in the dry! I am definitely carrying more speed through corners, feeling more comfortable to do so. In the wet, I find I have to remind myself that I´m in very high riding short wheelbase truck. Even the 265 winter tyres have lost their edge in the wet.
