3 pin domestic socket uses
Member DSL asked about what the max watts is that you can use the domestic socket in the boot for and I found this on another forum that shows various equipment wattages and just how few things you can use your 3 pin domestic socket for - can’t imagine too many members here carrying a CPAP device around........although useful if you use your Defender as an ambulance I suppose

Most inverters are not super efficient and only support about 80-90% of their claimed output, so you’d have to factor this in too.

I carry around a 300W invertor unit for emergencies for this kind of thing - whats the Defender socket rated to 150/180W? Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Sadly it seems to me to be a bit of a gimmick, a triumph of style over substance, and probably only useful for charging a few portable devices.

That Harry's Farm guy (Harry?) really annoyed me! Someone posted a link to a review he was doing of his Defender.

He mentioned the price of c.£80,000 and then said "Where's my money gone?" and then went on to talk about the 400hp petrol engine, rear view mirror camera, adaptive suspension etc. etc.

He bought a fully loaded car and then seemed surprised at the cost!

I don't think he bought anything ~ it's a 2 week loaner from somewhere within the JLR PR/Marketing machine.

Despite being a "consultant" to JLR, he does seem to give a balanced initial review.

It can't be a comfortable for JLR to hear a farmer who is serial RR buyer thinking he will swap his current one out for a new Defender.

It’s also a version not on the LR U.K. configurator - you cannot spec a P400 SE in the U.K. but you can in USA, SA and Aussie/NZ markets - member Zilch has a P400 SE in Sydney. Presenty P400 in the U.K. is only available as the Defender X, you cannot have P400 in X-Dynamic either according to the configurator except as the PHEV which is badged as a P400e

Better to have one and not need than need and not have it.

I bet caravan/motorhome low watt stuff are ideal

I’m not sure the car in Harry’s review is that price tbh Mike

It’s an LR press car but I have to agree with him. Where did the £80k go? Air suspension is standard, clearsight rear view is only £500. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I didn't go too mad on the configuration and managed to get a P400 SE, with only a 2 litre engine to north of £91k, so his cost does not sound out of the ballpark...

I officially got bored at this total, a good few more boxes to tick. Wonder what the dealer would think if the “buy me” button after too much vino collapso. Whistle
