Germany 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Keswick Green
I think here in Germany you could get away with that ... You need an MOT-engineer to approve it ... and the bumber carrying the winch will then be classified as a "mounting device" for a tool (i.e. winch) ... otherwise steel bumpers and bull-bars are no longer allowed over here .... Best Regards,

Axel

Just a thought. Owing to the way a Defender is built, if the metal bumper is removed would that not make it more fragile in a frontal collision? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali
2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu
2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai

Exactly that is the purpose - pull energy from the collision and destruction of flesh to the destruction of your car. The Defender was constructed in a time where passive safety meant "destroy anything in your way" - like old MB S-series and tanks. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

It's nothing to take the edge of the excitement of getting your new Defender - Congrats and I hope the wait isn't that long - people seem to be getting theirs at least a couple of months earlier than initially expected Thumbs Up

The sooner, the better .... I can't wait to get my hands on it!!!! Mr. Green

Thanks, Karl .....

However, the pages that come up following your link still seem to point to MY10 and 11 .... at least I did not see any reference to MY12 ....

Thanks anyhow! Nice link!!! Thumbs Up Best Regards,

Axel

Thumbs Up Yep, completely true, but the strange thing is that if you were to fit the bumper without a winch it would be illegal!!

If it comes thrugh and it isn't what you want you are completely in your rights to turn it down...... then find a nearly new MY11 Wink
