Agree with the crank sensor. If you can get hold of a nanocomto see if its reading crank speed would be ideal

A while ago I forgot to connect the crank sensor after I replaced the clutch. It didn't throw fault codes, but I did get a negative crank speed IIRC.
If you check/replace it, than mind that there's possibly a spacer between the cps and the gearbox housing.

United Kingdom 2001 Defender 90 Td5 HT Oslo Blue
installed a new crank position sensor,
no start still but im more and more sure it is the issue as there seems to be no fuel getting to the engine but fuel system is fine
i have checked injectors and glow plugs with nanocom and all work
engine idle speed on nanocom reads -939?
also does anyone know what MIL lamp is
i had a few faults 10,1 10,3 10,4 10,5 14,1 14,3 14,4 and 14,5
mostly abs and air conditioning which im pretty sure the car doesnt have, definite on the air con side of things
but to further my certainty that cps is the issue on of the faults said something to do with the tachometer, which if im right links to rpm, and no rpm when cranking is a sign of a cps issue
appreciate any help
Sad

My td5 wouldn’t start earlier in the year.
Changed crank sensor - no luck

Saw the crank sensor wiring was damaged, got Martin on here to make me a stand alone loom from the crank sensor to the ecu - no luck

Bought a nanocom, saw it wasn’t seeing a crank speed when turning over... only thing left was the ecu. Bought an ecu on eBay - problem solved.

it didnt look too dodgy to me but this thing sat on a site for years so

signed up just to say i had a similar issue with a misfire, gave the injector harness a wiggle and it came and went, then found out there’s a plug that’s vertical on the cylinder head, closest corner to front right hand headlight (uk drivers side), inlet manifold side, that was loose, just needed pushing back in!
