Replacement ABS pump?
Evening, read all the related posts but can't find any source of a replacement.

My Td5 traction control and ABS light have gone from being on an odd time, solved by a restart or clearing the fault codes to being on all the time.
It gave the usual shuttle valve error so I got my local garage to replace the valve and do the wiring mod. This only lasted a few days before the fault appeared again.
Autologic confirmed that the codes suggest this is the usual solution to the problem but is my unit too worn for repair or is there anything else to try?

No one with good reviews seems to supply a recon unit so am I just left with taking a punt on a unit from a salvage yard?

Any recommendations welcome as my MOT is due soon and I'm sure it won't pass with warning lights on the dash.

Thanks in advice
Paul.

I Believe that A disco 2 TD5 unit can be modified to fit, and are cheaper to get hold of.

Plenty Disco units around Chris but was told they were different.
Any ideas or where to find online how to modify them?

Cheers

After the unit was repaired did you try out the ABS a few times?

Often it fails due to lack of use, the ABS rarely kicks in on a Defender driven on road.

Just had the call from the garage I didn't want to hear. They've fitted a replacement pump, along with the new shuttle valve and again it initially solved the problem but within 10 minutes the ABS and TC light came on again.

Anyone any suggestions?

All the wiring under the seat looks corrosion free
I've changed the shuttle valve, and done the common wiring mod.

Now I'm still back to having the warning lights on with no chance of passing an MOT.

Any help much appreciated

Hi Chris,
It's still throwing up the shuttle valve failure code.
The garage is talking to Autologic to see if there's anything else they can do but the last time they asked there weren't any more options to try.

shuttle Bypass
Hello,

It is possible to do a wiring bypass on the shuttle valve- its seems to be quite a common fix on D2s- if you do. google search it shows you how.

Regards

Chris

I'm not sure about the Defender but the classic RR needed a replacement of a fast switching relay.

Bypass is the easiest solution for shuttle valve switch problems - replacing the plastic holder with switches in not right solution, because the problem is in the connector in the main ABS modulator body. I made it on several D2s and few Defs. With not to big hands, it is possible withnout disconnecting the brake lines. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
