Wait for the unofficial 8 cylinder?
I’m in a pretty good position and grateful to have just sold my 2013 LR4 HSE LUX (orig owner, low K miles, tasteful LR mods, rare HD package and hard to find arabica interior that basically looked “untouched”) to an enthusiast/collector.

That being said, I’m back on the fence on a purchase. Probably want to stay in the LR brand and have been looking at other models across the other lines for buying options.

Drove the Defender HSE demo and liked it. Now I am seeing reports of the 8 cylinder engine coming to the Defender. Obviously it’s anybody’s guess as to when and for much more over an already high premium. The 21’ HSE X Dynamic and X already puts me within striking distance of the RR full size Certified, 10k miles. Also kind of want to see what the D5 facelift (and much needed butt lift) will look like and an update to engine choices.

Might have, and am willing, to go without a vehicle for a while. I probably drove my LR4 20 times this year so I know it probably won’t be a big deal. Could’ve kept the LR4 but sold it now because the offers I was getting turned into a price war and too good to pass up.

So...what’s your opinion? Wait and see until end of Q1 2021?

V8 is a 2022 option according to Jimmy Black Finger, he told me the other night in my local pub. His mum works in the factory that makes the V8 Defender badges. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Which V8?

Old Ford one or new BMW, if JLR are still going that way?

No specifics as to which mfg engine. Speculation that it will be BMW’s 4.4 especially now that bmw officially dropped that engine choice off of their X7 lineup after only 2 years.

“For 2021, BMW reshuffles the X7 lineup by dropping the 456-hp, V-8-powered xDrive50i“

Yes, AJ-V8 - the line has been/is being moved in-house at Wolverhampton from Bridgend.
