New Radiator for 200tdi - part number question...
Looking to replace (or repair) my existing radiator on my 200tdi.

I have found an ex mod rad that is apparently suitable for 200tdi's, however, upon closer inspection of the photos, a label on the rad states p/n: ESR78.

I've searched this p/n, but I'm having conflicting reports about whether or not it will only fit pre tdi models.

Can anyone confirm please?

Thank you!

From a very quick look it is listed as a pre-Tdi radiator, it is full width not the 3/4 with space for the intercooler  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Which makes sense as for the majority ex-MOD means 2.5NA engine.

A 200Tdi radiator is BTP1823 or BTP1823S. Your local radiator place will be able to re-core your existing rad, or if buying a new one make sure you get a proper brass/copper radiator and not one of the aluminium/plastic contraptions.

Thanks chaps - it didn't occur to me that the pre TDI were full length.

And yes, I've read some of the horror stories regarding the aluminium/ plastic rads. I will make some enquiries regarding a re-core, but failing that, I'll keep a look out for a new copper/brass rad, using the correct part number - thank you!

My dad bought a alu unit, from the local rad place. They do a copper counter part, but that was a lot more. the only bother he has had, was the Cooler ends, but a bit of white tape on the ends sorted that out. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
