I know this sounds unbelieveable but...
I drove into our underground car park again this morning
(no thats not the unbelievable bit it is a bit tight) and as I start to reverse into place I'm reminded of something that I've heard a couple of times before, but only in this car park doing exactly the same thing, reversing / parking.
It sounds just like the first bleep you would hear in a car with parking sensors - quite obviously I don't have any ?

I seem to recall the last couple of times I was low in fuel and wondered if the car was giving a half hearted attempt at putting the low fuel / audible warning on but this time the tank is half full.

What could it be?

Trust me - they don't have sensors.

I managed to un-stack a carefully stacked 'wall' of sandbags the other day. I didn't even notice until I was driving away and caught sight of a heap of bags in my side mirror.

"You'd have thought someone would stack those up", I thought.

Mine does... it goes something like "...Honey, watch out for that wheelie-bin/small child/shopping trolley/Nissan Micra..." and so on. I can't seem to turn it off, no matter how much stuff I buy her. Whistle 2007 Defender 110

Hi, I've just stumbled upon this forum trying to find out if my new double cab's 23mpg was about right, and now I'm posting about strange beeps from the cabin!

I feel compelled to respond as this has also happened to me on a couple of occassions and sounds like a low battery warning beep you get on some electrical devices. Trouble is I don't have any such devices that make this noise, and assumed I was either hearing things or it was on the radio or something.

It has only occurred with me (that I've noticed) whilst parked up and idling for long periods of time to keep the cabin warm. What other devices in the cabin have the capability to generate such a sound except the radio and the low fuel level warning beeper?

It would be interesting to know what it is, but I shan't loose too much sleep over it!!!

was it a steep ramp into the carpark so the fuel in the tank left the float thinking you were near empty ? 2.4 90 XS

Must be an age thing, but I've had this odd beep a couple of times, the trouble is, 2 seconds after I've heard it I've forgotton what I was doing.

Hi guys first post so I might be talking rubbish but the radio in mine sounds a tone when it loses the "TA" signal, so whilst the radio contiues to play it will no longer be able to interupt with traffic warnings.

I'd go and check by slowly pushing the aerial down on mine but it's been in the dealers (again) since the 15th December and the D3 hire car supplied makes so many beeps/bongs I have no idea what it's doing! Ne nostra in fundamenta subeamus

Hi Grockle, thanks for the welcome, truck back at dealers for another issue of "contaminated fuel". Back in October it was down to the breather pipe placement but stopped again 15 Dec. and refused to restart.

Went in for progress report yesterday and they have cleaned the tank and lines again twice, reprimed, and it still wouldn't start so they replaced all the injectors with a known working set and various other bits and they say it should be ready Tuesday. Mind you three times I was asked if I had put Bio in the tank (NO!). Less inpressed when I went through to the workshop to find the bonnet off, leaning against a bench with nothing under it to protect the corners from damage on the concrete floor.

As for the noise the radio has an "info" button (well it does on mine) which if pressed should say "TA off" try that and see if it stops the sound. Ne nostra in fundamenta subeamus
