Off road centres north east
Hello gentlemen,

A friend is a dealer principle of a British ‘luxury’ car maker who have recently brought out a suv, he is looking to do a event for customers / potential customers, taking factory cars off-road for a day.

Does anybody have any suggestions of pay and play / suitable areas in the north east, closer to Newcastle the better, somewhere near Croft has been mentioned as the event could be combined with a track day for the more performance orientated models along with the new suv... I don’t know of anywhere near Croft but it may exist? Also somewhere near cramlington was mentioned

We will be doing a scouting drive somewhere around the 17th so any suggestions are welcome, looking for somewhere fairly challenging but not winch spec full cage routes, steep ups and downs would be a bonus..

Thanks

Just to add, this will be with factory drivers in the car with participants on the off road tracks

Maybe Russ Dykes of ARD Adventures could probably help. He is over in Yorkshire and has been involved in Jeep product launches before I think. He's quite easy to contact through FB. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Deepdale Off-road, Barnard Castle, is the only place I can think of that's not too far from Croft. They normally only do driver training or instructed drives, not a "pay and play" type place.

Just remember to check your eyesight before setting out. Especially if you and your family live in London and are suffering from Covid symptoms. Even if you have a mate called Boris. Whistle

Try All out adventures. It's about 30 mins from Newcastle in a beautiful area/country park. They do an off road course but rent the place out for the day to manufacturers. Quite a cool course too.

The reason for suggesting pay and play, we need a route that’s not going to have customers sliding 160k 4x4’s into trees but they get a feel for how capable the cars actually are can pick and choose the route, it will be signed off by a factory driver before the event and then everyone will have a factory driver whilst going around the course..

A bit further North, but I once went to Ronnie Dale and he was excellent -- quite a setup... http://www.ronniedale4x4.co.uk/ Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

My memory of Pay and Play sites was they were well worn, rutted tracks, often through trees, where people thrashed around in vehicles that would struggle to meet the MOT requirements. No facilities, because nobody cared. Not the sort of place to demonstrate any new vehicle.

Driver training sites on the other hand are likely to have a variety of terrain where inexperienced drivers can learn to drive in safety. Risk of damage and injury will have been considered when designing the site or routes through it. Because they are run as a serious business, they will have things like toilets, a briefing room, tea and coffee. The things buyers of premium brand vehicles expect. Thumbs Up

I’ve passed all the info onto my friend,

The reason I was thinking pay and play was due to having factory drivers with everyone, if the sites in question then want there instructors in, that’s 2 seats taken up and a larger ‘social bubble’

Lots of Covid precautions will be taken, track trace masks gloves and sanitising of vehicles..

definitely a interesting day with the weather, but we had a great day out getting a little muddy... think a standard defender might of struggled on a few of the bits of the course (like the DBX did but a good day out..)

thanks to all that offered advice on running the event, was a good success.

they are pretty well protected with PPF, the orange one had over 40k in options... including carbon fibre sills which are a 10k option... it grounded out a few times Shocked
