The mating surface on the inlet side of the EGR valve.
Is it a slip in plate or a captive one? If it’s a slip in plate you’d just need to loose the bolts to open up a gap. Slip it in and re-torque. There are Torque specs for the bolts, but I don’t have them to hand off the top of my head.
