Factory microphone position and cable route? | |
Hi folks. I’m installing an Alpine UTE-202DAB head unit. It’s like an updated version of the LR Alpines but it’s mechless and has DAB.
I’m installing it as per factory and have bought the bits I need to redo the microphone lead/mount to the same as fitted on a standard XS (cable tripled over and wrapped in Tesa 19mm fabric tape, the little plastic bracket LR040869 mounted to the top of the column to hold the microphone and three ties along the length of the wire behind the dash to secure.)
As I’m using the factory bracket for the mike (the circular one with a little ball on top), I was wondering if anyone could accurately measure the position of the microphone on top of the steering column so that I can duplicate it onto mine.
Secondly, if anyone has their dash apart I would love to see the routing of the factory microphone wire and to know what the three plastic C-clips are secured to behind the dash so I can clip mine in the same manner.
Thank you.

An old post - but I found the answer in case anyone else is struggling.
he wiring route and the position to drill the hole in the steering cowl are shown in land rover publication LAF00267_1E, the fitting kit for the upgraded bluetooth stereo VPLDE0060. Can be found on Topix.
