Would be nice to see the New Defender in the same red as yours Andrew.

I'm kind of bored 0f that silver.

Anyway thanks for taking the picture.

And to say it looks like a Kia Soul is like saying that Andrews gorgeous 130 looks like a Jeep....

Agreed there the front end of the Grenadier is abysmal - it looks like a cheap Chinese knock off Land Rover. The bonnet and side profiles are ok - but then they were stolen from the Defender. The back looks like an early 90’s trooper Rolling Eyes 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

This is exactly what is so irritating about the Grenadier - the concept is brilliant - 100%. Yet they talk about designing the vehicle and all they have done is stolen the iconic Defender shape, done a very minor re-work, mucked up the front, stolen the Isuzu rear doors and try to claim all the glory - even a child can do that Rolling Eyes 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

The front view of the Grenadier looks like it is a very slightly modified latest generation Suzuki Jimny on steroids!
Disappointing that it looks so like the original Defender/Land Rover. My local Indy reckons they won’t cost less than £60000 a pop, he cannot see how they would recover the developement cost with a vehicle costing less and with what are likely to be smaller production numbers than the Puma. He reckons it will end up being another Santana sales wise Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I'm looking forward to more details of things like door hinges designed so the owner doesn't have to glue ball bearings in them to stop them being stolen, bulkheads that don't leak, paint that doesn't bubble, galvanic corrosion on nearly all points of contact of dissimilar metals, auto gearboxes that give smooth effortless acceleration, an engine that can actually tow a 3.5 tonne trailer over the M62 without having to drop in and out of the crawler lane, a front bumper that's actually sized correctly for a modern numberplate, wings tops I can stand on, multiple recovery points designed into the vehicle, a chassis that doesn't already show signs of rust when collected new from the main dealer, etc.

It's on this level of detail that the vehicle should be judged. In short, with an engineering lead design, form following function, then the journey to the end result will actually be something I will want to understand. No design for design's sake and no talk of bold lines and verticality.

Given the tale of how it was conceived, I'm surprised that anybody is surprised that it looks like a Defender. That's what Jim Ratcliffe wanted to build - just a better engineered version. Darren

I passed a new white defender today down by Lechlade.... it just blended in with the rest of the euro boxes that were on the road... BORING Laughing

The grenadier is growing on me.... if a square boxy shape works, and is useful for custom modification/adding bits to/standing on etc, then why change it?
