Looks great.

To the people saying it will challenge the new defender... it wont. They are 2 completely different cars. The new defender is a refined family SUV i imagine the grenadier is going to be a built to last, tough utility vehicle.

If it really is priced in the £30k bracket, dread to think what it will do to the resale value of our 'classic' Defenders.

That’s been a constant number quoted from pretty much the beginning. Last story with "figures":

"Although still more than a year from beginning production at a factory in Bridgend in South Wales, “Projekt Grenadier” has not been slowed by the pandemic, in part because the outbreak hit when little construction work was taking place at the site.

In recent weeks Welsh government contractors have levelled the site and installed roads, with builders for Ineos expected to begin work within two months, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Previously unreported details about the project show how Ineos also plans to undercut JLR on price while offering a full range of models familiar to buyers of the old Defender, according to several people briefed on the project.

The company will launch a long-wheelbase model of the vehicle late next year, with a shorter version and a pick-up model to follow. It expects to produce 30,000 cars a year. The price will start at £30,000 and rise to £45,000, according to two people who have seen the plans.

Ineos declined to comment."

Decent teaser shot. Hopefully it will be the truck Land Rover should have built.
However, unless there is an EV I will be keeping my money in my pocket. WARNING.

For core markets you are probably right, however, there's at least two outliers I can think of, that will pull sales from the new Defender :

1. Those of us who have a Defender and were planning the move into a new Defender, albeit, perhaps reluctantly; but prepared to give it a go; and

2. Those that would have bought the Defender as a 3rd or 4th vehicle for the cachet of owning either the best offroader or because its the newest shiny thing on the market.

Even if it does not directly challenge for sales at the polo clubs events, Henley or Cowes week, it will always be the challenge to the Defender when someone talks about the latter being the best, toughest, uncompromised, etc without acknowledging the former may now hold the top trumps card for each of these criteria.

I fear you will be keeping your money then at least for the next few years.

Looks that way mate but I’m happy my Defender will do the same job until an EV alternative and/or electrification is an option. WARNING.

EV infrastructure is pretty much non-existent currently which is not likely to be any better for a while yet (years). Rgds.

EV (and Hybrid EV in particular) is simply another 'diesel gate' whilst they kick the can further down the road in the name of the "environment"........

They clearly know the essential components of any Defender replacement.
