If these are direct I wonder where they were hiding and how come they are only just leaving now, now I can be honest and say speedos are replaced so mileage can be false sometimes but these could be genuine looking at the rest of the vehicle. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Yes it looks unused and with all the kit. Back in the late 80's I was sent to a Government store somewhere in East Anglia when they were clearing cold war kit to collect some gear for work. It was an old airfield with two T2 hangers (Think that what they are called). Anyway one was open for the kit being removed the other locked. A peep through the door and I saw new LWB 2a's stacked on frames one on top of the other. Been there since the 60's some chap said. I wonder to this day what happened to them. Big Cry 2010 XS USW

I recall being at menwith hill seeing a number of cars and trucks in long term storage basically I was told if the bomb dropped something would be needed to get about . not sure if that was true or not

These won't be direct ex-MoD since the MoD disposals are now handled by Brightwells, Witham lost the contract as I recall.

I think I'd rather have this currently listed in the current Brightwells auction, think of the overland camper you could build on that! Sadly though I think it would be daft purchase since it is overwidth and can't be driven on the road excpet under Special Types regs or Crown Exemption (although I did hear that if you fit skinnier tyres and adjust the mudguards you can just get them under the limit). Imposing vehicle all the same.

Having looked at the Brightwells listing the other day I guessed the vehicle before I clicked the link Rolling with laughter I love those things, they are a beast off road and if you are canny you can use the LHS for a little self recovery too, they are even worse than a defender for security though Whistle and with no easy way to carry a spare would make longer trips interesting (I think 1 or 2 spares were carried per packet of vehicles on the flat rack however the procedure in the book was to swap whatever tyre was flat with either of the tyres on the second axle, as this was a dead axle you could then ratchet strap it up compressing the spring and enabling you to drive).

It’s amazing how vehicles can lead you down a path of remembrance of days of cold muddy German training areas, hot dry Canada prairie and even hotter deserts in a far flung land Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter and every time these things worked hard and did their job Thumbs Up

Few stats I remember was a 30deg side slope, 60deg gradient or a 2m trench all with 15t on the back Shocked 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I wouldn't dream of doubting you, but I have to say you don't hear of quite some many being stolen as Defenders, and you don't see them being chased by the police on the many TV programmes very often!

It is a great looking vehicle with real "presence", although given the choice I would personally rather have the Unipower version, or better still one to the BR90 Unipowers such as the TBT. A little more 'exclusive' than the Foden. Ithink the Unipowers are even wider though and I don't think it is possible to make them road-legal for casual use.

It’s amazing what they keep stored away, main problem being I can’t imagine many of the now “vm’s” would have a clue how to work on anything of that vintage Rolling with laughter 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html
