[Wanted] Mini/Micro Excavators & Ifor/similar trailer.
Hi all

off topic I am starting my own plant hire business next month so I am looking for a micro excavator about 0.5t with expanding tracks and also a 1.7-2.7t mini excavator. Ideally 2010+ and if possible also a plant trailer or flat bed trailer.

If you have or know of one please let me know, My budget is £20,000 currently for the pair.

My 110 will be the tow vehicle for it!

Kind regards 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Having been on the hunt recently for an upgrade I'd say keep an eye on the "Excavators in UK & Ireland" group on Facebook, lots of stuff coming up on that.

Although I was looking chiefly for a 3-5t digger but then ended up going backhoe (JCB 2CX) as more useful long term.

Incidentally if you're doing outside work more then I suspect you'll want bigger - depending on what your target market is, naturally. Luckily got a mate down the road with everything from 0.5t to 20t+, he came up to dig a hole for me, was initially going to bring up a 5t and got a surprise when a 13t came down the drive. There's no substitute for weight when it comes to these kind of things Mr. Green Ed

Well I'm hiring out so it'll prob be mostly DIY to start off with so micro will be useful

would love a 2.7tonne but they are usually out of my price range unless its a old girl!

I know what you mean about weight haha

I am currently still working full time running a contract crushing team in a Quarry crushing aggregates so I'm used to running big 50 tonners etc and thats what Im aiming to get to, to supply kit to contractors in quarrying.but for now ill have to start small haha 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

I'm also in the market for 2.6t machine and have been looking for a while now, but nothing has taken my fancy so far or if it has, its either been in Wick or Lands End!

You should be able to pick a 2010 one up for around £10k-£12k+VAT.

I've done a bit of a circle, having started with a mini digger, replaced it with a JCB 3C and now going back!

If I see anything on my look out, I'll pm you Thumbs Up

What make of machine are you looking for? I've always preferred JCB just because I live 30 mins away from a main dealer. As for trailer - just buy new and then you know it is safe.

Watch out for those adverts that show the same digger in 5 places in the country with the same pics/same seller mobile. 1999 Defender TD5 110

As an alternative, I know of someone who bought a 1.7t Doosan with no cab and Ifor Williams, both brand new. Total price was less than £20'000, but he went for their interest free finance at around £200/month figuring that he keeps some cash in the bank and as long as it earns more than £200/month it's making money.

Don't forget to keep an eye out on Brightwells Auction website, you could finish early on the Friday and call in on the way home from that big quarry on the hill Wink

They do an online catalogue to give you an idea on what they might have in the sale plus results of previous sales

I’m on the lookout for a JCB 3CX and have seen this on multiple occasions on eBay usually in the Scottish Borders, the price is always too low and obviously a scam so what do they get out of it! I’ve even tried to contact them via eBay message but no reply. Formerly mao99999

im not looking to finance to start the business up until i have some proof i can get a income from it! then i will decide whether to save up the capital or finance the future diggers, outlaying the capital now = more profit in future from no monthly payments or finance and get lots of new kit and have a nice monthly payment for it all. Im currently leaning towards owning the kit outright even though the tax benefits of leasing are pretty good!

Thank you bright wells is a good shout

I have currently found a 2018 takeuchi tb216, a ifor williams GX126 3.5 tonne trailer, both immaculate owner operated for £13,000 including the vat. he is asking a friend about his micro excavator so i could potentially have it all for just under 20k, just waiting to hear back, only problem is its in bonny Scotland but good excuse to have a road trip! 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)
