New locking wheel nut cover won't stay on
Hi all,

I noticed the other day that one of my wheel nut covers wasn't on the nut anymore so I purchased a new one (RRJ100120). The one I purchased has a dimple on the head and this seems to be common, but my other wheel nut covers don't have the dimple.

The new, dimpled one is a very loose fit and I don't see it lasting 100m down the road, but my other nut covers fit nice and snug.

Is there a different type of wheel nut cover I should be looking for? I did a quick Google search and found a non-dimpled cover but it's from Wish, so I wouldn't see it for weeks and I don't trust Wish anyway.

Does anyone know where I could get a non-dimpled one? I have alloy wheels shown here:

The locking nut covers are dimpled, in order to indicate that they are the removable ones. It is quite common for them to be loose (they're a pretty naff design, really), I usually squeeze them in a vice to make them a little tighter, and also when fitting give them a 30 degree twist with the wrench so that the spikey lug on the locking nut digs into the flat face of the cover.

It is also possible to squeeze the "rim" at the open end to make them tighter, but this can make them difficult to get on.

Update: I used some RTV 3140 or 3145, and it seems to be doing the job.

I did have to take the wheel off to do some brake bleeding, and so I had to take some of the RTV off to get the locking wheel bolt key over the teeth, but it still seems to be holding on. Only time will tell...
