Rostyle Steels
I was looking at acquiring at set of 16" Rostyle steel wheels for my 110 untility, but can anybody shed light on if all the Rostyle wheels require inner tubes or were there tubeless versions that can take a "modern" tubeless tyre? Also where there any fitment differences between the RR ones and the Defender versions? - Thanks

I would want to check that they are load rated for a 110, as far as I know they only went on the Ninety.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

My understanding (from years back) was that the Rostyles used on the Range Rover and Defender 90 were designed for tubeless tyres.

Rostyle wheels were manufactured for both tubed and tubeless applications so it maybe that you need to take care when purchasing that your wheels and tyres are compatible.

As Martin says the Rostyles were only ever offered on the 90 and were never a factory fit or factory option on the 110. Defender 90XS SW

Perhaps I might be off the mark if you're looking for OEM, but Twisted appear to have redesigned the Rostyle with a slightly deeper dish and are selling them on their website.

Chelsea Truck company also do a set but I wouldn't touch that stuff with a 10ft bargepole.

Chelsea Truck/Khan styling is properly minging. However their wheels are decent quality and I actually think some look nice too. WARNING.

The later style Rostyle fits the same - always use tubes on them too! Ring Emerald Bespoke as they sell loads of them

Avoiding load rating discussions for a moment:

Earlier RR Rostyles had a riveted rim that connects the nave plate

- the later type was welded...

Earlier RR types had a smaller centre hole as well - can't recall the measurement.

All OE Rostyles need tubes. Regardless of rivet or welded construction the valley between the rims doesn't have a radial rib...

There is a myth about later 'tubeless' Rostyles. You can use a tubeless tyre on a Rostyle, but it must be fitted with a tube.

A common mod is to band or replace the naveplate from a steel wheel with the Rostyle one. These are generally tubeless. JB

Many thanks particularly Widget for the font of knowledge. Bow down
Maybe a rethink is in order – HD Wolf steels were the alternative. Smile

Chap at Newbury 4x4 autojumble this time last year spent all day going round buying Rostyles & Disco steel rims, he was removing the nave plate in the Disco wheels & replacing with the one from the Rostyles - he had a large Ifor Williams trailer absolutely stacked with them when he left - we had our trailer set up opposite him & he was like a worker ant back & forth with a trolley continuously while his mate sold stuff off their stand. My brother was interested in a set for his Ninety and asked but they weren't cheap...
