Rear door striker
Can anybody tell me why I just can’t get my rear door lock adjusted to fully shut? I’ve been adjusting it all over the place and I just can’t get it to fully shut. It keeps bouncing off something.

Hi Sgreenham,

Are you sure you haven’t over adjusted the striker part, ie to far in, meaning the latch can’t actually click fully back on its second click, hope you understand what I’m saying. I did exactly this on my last Puma, and it wouldn’t shut properly, I moved the striker out a bit, and got it to work. Also have you checked that the lock does actually lock properly on its second click. You can check this using a screwdriver to act as the striker with the door open, and see if it holds.

Cheers And hope you sort it,
Ashbyandy

Yeah the lock works, I’ve removed the striker and tried it in the lock free hand and it works. I’ve tried every possible adjustment for the striker and I just can’t seem to get it to latch. What’s annoying is that I just can’t see what is restricting it. Really frustrating

I’ve found the rear door seal to be a culprit in stopping the door from latching correctly.
Once the metal within the seal gets bent it’s a slippery slope to it becoming a right PITA.

See how the seal sits from the inside once your door is shut

Looks like the rubber bumper stop is missing on yours? This helps to wedge the door closed. I don’t think they’re available on their own but the Rear door lock striker is LR067267 £37.10

Cheers everyone, I had removed the rubber stop just whilst I was trying to get it to catch. Well I managed to solve the problem. The new door lock I had installed was slightly different to the old one. There is an extra piece of metal in the new one stopping the striker fully seating in the lock. This is the old one...

I fixed it by taking a bit off the stricker to allow it to move fully into the lock. Thank god that’s sorted!
