Canada 2004 Defender 110 Td5 CSW Alpine White
Def 110 td5 mileage
Hoping for some help. Have 200kms on it. Seems to run great but get about 16mpg max. I'm new to the td5 so here is how its setup, some of which I know doesnt help mileage. I dont have a fast tune in it and dont hot rod the car. It's an overland vehicle so lots of trails and freeway stuff getting there. I usually run 70MPH on the freeway. Any reason why the mileage is so poor?



Stock gears with Ashcroft lockers

1.4 tcase

35x12.50r17 maxxis razr MT

Exocage

2" lift

i see people saying they get 30MPG. is that bogus? i'd be happy with 20 if others get 30. 04 110 TD5

I have seen 30mpg in the past but usually average around 24/25mpg. Charlie

At 70mph, I’m just shy of 2,400rpm in 5th. That’s with 1.2 transferbox gear set and 285/75/R16 tyres. Seems to sit very happily at that speed/rpm. Charlie

5th gear and 35 mph (56 kph) should be about as economical as is possible when driving a shed... Ex scottish & southern 110 Td5 van (shed) with PTO driven winch (L-R special vehicles)
Before that, Disco 1, Freelander 1, 26105382 80" with a 1600cc (not much slower)

US or UK gallons?

I get 25 mpg (UK) out of mine when I'm not trying to drive economically, and that's with a lift, 265/75 tyres and a roofrack. That equates to 21mpg (US). Your figure doesn't sound too far off the mark with the lift, cage, bigger tyres and driving at 70.

Currently I'm getting near 30mpg (UK) out of it, but I haven't been over 55mph in about 3 weeks!

Hi, yes USA mpg. I swapped the km speedo for a MPH one. It reads about 3m mph slow at 70 but that's pretty close. 04 110 TD5

My long time average is just below 8km/ltr so approx 18 mpg US. Most on 235 85 BFG MT's and some on 35"Simexes and off-road driving.

Speed is the main killer stay below 90 km/hr and you save a lot. Roel

I have a very mildly tuned ECU (no smoke at all) everything else is stock. No suspension mods nothing. I have a Roamerdrive as well. I get 27-28 mpg. I believe that if you calculate with the UK gallon 4.54 ltr but not if you use the us gallon 3.78 ltr. Roel
