Spare a thought
Attached is a map showing world shipping distribution earlier this week ........ spare a thought for all the seafarers (between 20 and 30 crew on every one of the ships) who, because of CoronaVirus, are unlikely to get relieved at the end if their normal service onboard which for some crew is 10 months away but also now cannot go ashore in most ports despite them having enforced isolation while ploughing a furrow across the oceans. These are the guys and gals bringing you your vital imports of fresh fruits and vegetables, ventilators, Medical PPE as well as your cheap garden furniture and parts for your cars. There are about 500,000 ship targets on the map

BTW if you were interested in the Marine tracker post and bookmarked MarineTraffic.com you might like to track the ships I’ve sailed in in the last few years Back to 2007) they are all still sailing but Safmarine Ngami is now flying the USA flag carrying USAid cargoes to East Africa, all the rest are on various routes - Maersk Newbury mostly carries refrigerated fruit and atmosphere controlled containers of Bananas for Ffyfes

Maersk Utah
Maersk Patras
Maersk Newbury
Safmarine Ngami
Safmarine Nakuru
Maersk Sydney
Maersk Seville Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

That is nuts. Thanks for the reminder. What do the different colours mean?

It’s a slightly slower watch than Flightracker though. Might be there for months following one some parts you’ve ordered from SE Asia Rolling with laughter Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

That is very impressive.

I have worked beside the main drag in and out of the Port of Felixstowe. Until you see somewhere like that, you can’t believe how many shipping containers there are and just how much we rely on maritime freight.

It is, well it was until we all had to distance, a local pastime sitting in the car park in Felixstowe watching the cranes unloading the ships. The container traffic is relentless.

You are correct Tim, a solitary life in normal times but extra hard for these people and their families, in these uncertain times.

One of my favorite apps is Flight Radar 24.... which currently is very quiet.

Not seen the Spitfires from Biggin Hill for a couple of weeks now. Cheers Don.

I once done some work for Airbus at Broughton in North Wales. I used to track the Belugas. They are quite susceptible to Side winds (because of the vast size) and these could circle waiting for the right wind conditions or be diverted to Manchester on occasions.

This is just modern day train spotting Laughing

I worked for a Port of Felixtowe logistics firm for a month when I was younger. The volume of container lorries we took in and turned around day and night was staggering Shocked I really think people should be made to understand what's going on around them - they might be inclined to criticize less and appreciate more how their food gets to their bellies Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Yes! And the ice cream van does great business. It's called Languard Fort (it's obvious on Google Maps, it's as far as you can get without getting wet.

It sure beats being crammed into the London Underground for a day out there, Donald Laughing

Took my mates grand children down there when they were young. They didn't have a clue how any of the stuff gets into the UK.

The speed that those people get those ships turned around is quite staggering Thumbs Up
