[SOLD] Freelander 2 Td4 XS manual - £3700
FREELANDER 2 Td4 XS 6-speed manual

First registered 21/12/2007

Comprehensive service history

MoT till 11 November 2020

Mileage 118,343

For sale, our 2007 Freelander 2 Td4 XS with 6-speed manual gearbox, we have owned this car since January 2018 and bought the best we could find when we got it with the intention of keeping it for a good few years. However, the other half is no longer able to use a clutch due to a dodgy left knee and we have bought an automatic version to replace it.

Please see photos showing exterior of the car as well as screenshot of the DVLA MoT history, confirming the last two MoTs were ‘clear’, and the last two services in the book. I will try to get more photos, including the interior, at the weekend.

The car has the following:

6-speed manual gearbox
Electric windows
Remote central locking
Climate control/air conditioning
Half leather seats
Electric seat adjustment
Height & reach adjustable steering wheel
Power fold heated door mirrors with puddle lights
Front parking sensors
Rear parking sensors
Automatic lights
Rain sensing wipers
Witter detachable tow bar
Mantec fuel tank guard
Mantec engine guard
Side protection strips
17” alloy wheels
235/65R17 Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather tyres
Front & rear mud flaps
Genuine Land Rover seat covers

The car has a full service history as follows:

7,514 miles 2/1/09
13,217 miles 4/1/10
18,770 miles 25/1/11
30,324 miles 9/1/12
37,156 miles 14/1/13
41,859 miles 9/12/13
49,195 miles 30/4/14
64,554 miles 12/5/15
81,199 miles 26/7/16
87,242 miles 11/10/17
103,449 miles 22/10/18
118,343 miles 26/2/20

As well as the regular service items the following has been done to it since we have owned it:

New radiator fitted 21/5/18
New throttle body fitted 27/6/18
Cam belt and water pump replaced at service on 22/10/18
Rear discs, pads & hand brake shoes fitted 12/11/19
Refurbished rear differential fitted & Haldex serviced by Bell Engineering on 3/2/20

This Freelander 2 was well looked after before we bought it and we have made sure that we have looked after it since, this includes getting the rear diff sorted and making sure it has a service before it is sold – we want whoever buys it to get the full benefit of what has been a great car for us and one which we had planned on keeping.

It is, however, a 12 year old car and does have a few very minor scuffs around the outside and on the wheels, but nothing that is significant. It also currently needs a replacement nearside rear door catch as it doesn’t unlock on the central locking, a common fault and I have the part to fix it but the weather has been too bad for me to get out and do it! – I’m happy to supply the part and adjust the price accordingly if I don’t get the chance to fix it before the car is sold.

There are a lot of Freelander 2s out there on the market at the same sort of price we are asking, or less, but how many of them have the service history this one has and have had cam belt and water pump done or have a rear diff that has just been replaced?

I know that good ones are not that easy to find after spending months looking at promising automatics only to find they have got a variety of ‘issues’ that weren’t disclosed in the ads or hadn’t had the expensive 10 year service done or had noises or vibrations that only appeared once you got them up to 40-50mph on a proper test drive.

So, now the bit you’ve all been wondering about… how much is it?

We’re looking for £4,700, which we think is a reasonable figure for what is such a well sorted car that has had all the ‘usual’ things fixed on it. We are, however, open to sensible offers and especially if the cash is ready and waiting.

The car is located just outside Winchester where it can be viewed at weekends, but can be viewed during the day Monday – Friday in Basingstoke where I work if preferred. Happy to take prospective buyers for a drive in it, however, if you want to drive it yourself you will need to provide proof of valid insurance as well as ID to prove you are the person on the insurance certificate.

Any questions please ask.

Thanks.

Free punt back to the top for you!

We had two FL2’s and both were cracking cars - diesel in one end, windscreen wash in the other and a bit of servicing...

Ours towed horse trailers, had small(ish) children, their friends and their friends’ junk in them and never caused us any stress...

Good luck with the sale.

bought one same age same colour and spec around the same time as you but with 160k miles on for around £4500, its now done 260k and its been a great car, just needed couple bushes here and there.

probably not worth much at that mileage so will just run it into the ground Smile but it tells you at 100k ish its got many more miles left in it Mr. Green Thumbs Up 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Thanks 'dude, it's been a great car & the only reason we're selling is because SWMBO had to go over to driving an auto, we're both really sad to see it going!

Have put it on the D3/4 forum, the Freel2 forum & on here & not so much as a sniff so it's now on the 'Bay with 7 days to run - got a couple of bids on it & had the usual questions asking what I'll take for cash Rolling Eyes

I had one of these, same year 2007, which I ran for around 8 years. Never had any problems with it at all. Traded it in for a defender puma 2.2 18 months ago & that's broke down 3 times already! Smile Really great vehicles.

Last reduction before SORN - £3700
Obviously Covid-19 has hit us all hard & it's not been a good time to try & sell this. This is my last price drop before it gets put on SORN over the summer ready to try again in the autumn.

Thanks for that, luckily at the moment we're not in a position to need to sell it so it can get SORN'd. As far as price goes, I know I'm biased but this car is as good as you'll get for the money.

What would make it even better would be the genuine Land Rover seat covers & the Hatchbag rear load liner that can go with it to help keep the inside clean when carrying horse food, etc. Whistle

Genuinely only selling it as SWMBO was struggling with the clutch because of a dodgy left knee (too many years falling off horses or getting kicked & shoved around by them) so we had to buy her an automatic.
